iOS vs. Android: Your Best Arguments

Posted on

Description

Android and iOS are the two most popular platforms in the market today. But, which one is better?? In this tutorial, we are going to discuss about both.

iOS vs. Android-1

Solution:

1.Talking about Android, it is more customizable in terms of third-party launchers. But, in some aspects Android’s customization can cause problems. There are many apps like Zappos and golf game which you don’t need and can’t delete.
2.iOS is faster as well as more fluid. Thus, no matter how slow a device runs you will not feel any pause. But, Android is not smooth and fluid. And, obviously as a tech obsessed person you can’t tolerate this hindrance.
3.In terms of open platform for everything, Android is better than iOS. You can get apps from Google Play, AppBrain, Amazon Appstore, or anywhere else. But, iOS won’t allow you to do so. Therefore, Android is more flexible for apps as compare to iOS.
4.iOS gets a nice update every year but Android is little slower in this. As Android is open source OS thus, it runs on a crowd of different phone makes and model. This year, Galaxy S4 came out with eye scroll and Air gestures features. But, at the same time these features have cut down the memory of phone.
5.Apple always comes out with superior design and this makes it different from Android. On the other hand, Android devices use cheaper materials sometimes. The display is much better in iOS devices. Well, the new devices of Android runs really fast, offer great battery life as well as looks good. Although you can’t include all the devices in this yet, you can definitely choose the well-designed Android device.
6.Apple iOS is more intuitive and can be easily learned by anyone. The Asus tablet running Android is quite useful but it is very un-intuitive in some aspects. After using iOS for a long time switching over to Android would be un-intuitive to you. Many people love their iPhone over Android in terms of UI. They find it clean, quick and consistent.
7.In case you want to tinker with your phone and mold it as per your choice then Android is the good option for you. However, if you just want your phone to work smoothly then you should go for iOS. In fact, you can find iOS simple, convenient and appealing. But, Android is little inconsistent.
8.For sharing anything, Android is better as iOS don’t have this facility. Another drawback of iPhone is the lack of back button.
Eventually, one will choose according to their own preference. Thus, you can go as per your needs. For more from the XpertCrewTM team, please follow us on Twitter @Techvedic or contact Techvedic’s computer support helpdesk, as per below contact-details:

THE UNREAL DEAL: HOW TO ID PHONY PHONES, COUNTERFEIT CPUS, AND OTHER TECH TRAPS

Posted on

Description

Technology world is full of risks as tech traps are prevalent day by day. What to do now?? Well, this is very important to differentiate between real and fake. If you are trusting any app and it is not real then it can infect your business devices with malware.

Solution:

Let’s have a look on the five most important market segments:

Smartphones and tablets

Smartphones-1

Beware of counterfeits while purchasing smartphones and tablets. Fraudsters target this market frequently. Street-vendor items are usually fakes. To fool you, a scammer purchases an item, unwrap it and replace it with fake one. After that, return it to the store for refund. According to many users, it is easy to spot fake phones and tablets. Its weight, case, button fitting and its finish is not as the real one. In a fake phone, you may find several useless apps installed.

CPUs, RAM, motherboards, and graphics cards

Components like microprocessors, RAM modules, and graphics cards are easy to replace with fake ones. Scammers may paint and label the real ones to fool customers. Also, they can sell used or damaged products as new. For spotting repainted and relabeled products, you need lab-grade equipment. Always look for every tiny detail like color, label markings, etc.

Headphones

Selling counterfeit headphones is a very common task. If you are buying headphones from street vendors without retail packaging then you need to check it carefully. If a seller offers a discount then it is suspicious. Also, you should check its packaging carefully.

Packaged software

Smartphones-2

According to Microsoft, counterfeit software will fail in online validation. In high-end packaged software, check for a valid certificate of authenticity. In Microsoft products, you can find holographic or color-shifting ink features. Make sure that the hologram should be printed on disc. For identifying Microsoft products, the most important security feature is present on the outer band of an optical disc. There you can find “Microsoft” label that changes into “Genuine” as you shift the disc in the light.

Mobile apps

Smartphones-3
Apart from physical-software counterfeiting, mobile apps are also in the list of counterfeiting. Counterfeit apps are not only for getting quick bucks from you but also for making your phone malware infected. The most common way is to take a paid app, break it down and add malware. After that, offer it for free. Obviously, people will go for it. Thus, always download apps from a trusted source like iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, or the Microsoft Store. Check the app for developer’s name. Also, check it for ratings and reviews. Android users should install a security app for monitoring of mobile device.
Counterfeiting is increasing day by day. Therefore, be careful and stay safe. For more from the XpertCrewTM team, please follow us on Twitter @Techvedic or contact Techvedic’s computer support helpdesk, as per below contact-details:

Control how Windows locks down and saves power when you’re not using it

Posted on

Description

It is better to lock Windows when you are not using your computer or away from it. It will save power and let you stay safe. In this tutorial, we are giving three ways to suspend Windows.

Solution:

It is a security option which displays login screen or the screen saver of your choice. It doesn’t save power. You can set up Windows to lock itself when not in use. For this, in Windows 7 click “Start”, type “Screen Saver” and select “Change Screen Saver.” In Windows 8, type screen saver, click or tap “Settings”, and select “Change screen saver.” For locking screen automatically, check the “On resume” option and set the wait option to a suitable number of minutes.

Sleep

Windows-1

In Sleep mode, Windows goes into a suspended state and requires very less amount of electricity. On pressing power button, it will ask you for a password and takes you back where you left it. For setting this in Windows 7, click “Start”, type “sleep”, and select “Change when the computer sleeps.” In Windows 8’s start screen, type “sleep”, click or tap “Settings”, then choose “Change when the computer sleeps.”

Hibernation

How to Add RAM to Your Desktop?

Posted on

Description

Technology is developing rapidly. Thus, we expect a lot from a newly purchased desktop. Running applications, switching between several programs and web browsing should be fast and smooth. In the starting, everything will be very much like this but as time passes your computer becomes slower. This is due to tons of applications as well as data you put in your computer. Well, if you want to stay updated with this digital world then just upgrade your Random access memory.

Add RAM

Solution:

If you are using your desktop just for emails and word processing then you need RAM between 384 to 512 MB. The more processing your computer perform, the more RAM you will need. In case, you use your computer for tasks like e-mail, Web surfing, word processing, spreadsheets and software for presentations and illustrations then obviously your desktop requires almost 1GB of RAM. For game lovers, you need RAM between 1 and 2 GB. And, those who use 3-D modeling software need 2GB or more.
In fact, you can find various websites like Crucial.com which can help you to select the type of desktop you need. After choosing the right kind of RAM, you should install the RAM module. While installing it, keep your desktop off and unplugged from any outlets. Otherwise, it would be dangerous if any electrical source is connected to it. Also, you can wear an antistatic wrist strap. It prevents electrostatic discharge.
Most of the desktops are made with either side doors or tops that can be removed using screwdriver. RAM slots are located on the computer motherboard. Usually there are two slots but there may be more. If all the slots are already filled with existing RAM modules then replace the smaller RAM chip with a larger one. Release the tabs holding the module down. Then remove the older one and insert the new, larger one.
Once you have installed the RAM, close the desktop safely and carefully. Now, Start your computer and the system automatically recognize the new RAM.
Get ready to boot up faster, run applications smoothly and switch between programs with great ease. For more from the XpertCrewTM team, please follow us on Twitter @Techvedic or contact Techvedic’s computer support helpdesk, as per below contact-details:
